Seit 2014 bietet CARTHA eine Plattform für kritischen Diskurs zu Themen der Architektur und Gesellschaft. Jedes Jahr stösst das internationale Netzwerk Forschungsprojekte zu einem spezifischen Thema an und veröffentlicht die Ergebnisse und Texte im eigenen Onlinemagazin und in einem jährlich erscheinenden Sammelband. 2016 war CARTHA eingeladen, an der Architekturtriennale in Lissabon teilzunehmen. Deren Thema The Form of Form greifen sie nun im neuen Sammelband auf, der das Thema Form in der Architektur aus verschiedenen Perspektiven beleuchtet. Der erste Teil, 'How to Learn Better', vom Architekturbüro Bureau A redigiert, geht verschiedenen pädagogischen Ansätzen in der Architektur auf den Grund. Im zweiten Teil, 'The Architecture of the City: A Palimpsest' widmen sich Victoria Easton, Matilde Cassani und Noura Al Sayeh den Schriften Aldo Rossis zur Form der Stadt. Die Beiträge des dritten Teils, 'Lisboa Paralela', entstanden während der Triennale in Lissabon und wurden vom CARTHA-Redaktionsteam selbst zusammengestellt. Sie hinterfragen den Status Quo natürlicher und sozialer Gesetze anhand unterschiedlicher urbaner Formen. In Essays und einem Designexperiment kommen einige der interessantesten Vertreter der zeitgenössischen Architekturszene zu Wort.
CARTHA On the Form of Form compiles sixty contributions produced by architects, historians, and theoreticians. Composed of collages, essays, photos, and drawings, this volume presents a set of suggestions for how to approach form from different perspectives and with dissimilar goals.
