Ce livre présente les photographies de Daphné Bengoa et Leo Fabrizio, fruit d'un projet mené en commun sur l'œuvre algérienne de l'architecte français Fernand Pouillon (1912-1986). En Algérie, ce bâtisseur effréné fut en effet le maître d'œuvre de plusieurs cités (Climat de France, Diar-el-Mahçoul, etc.), de complexes touristiques (par exemple Sidi Fredj), de logements étudiants (notamment la cité universitaire Bab Ezzouar). Les deux photographes ont effectué huit voyages en Algérie pour documenter ce volet de son travail méconnu du grand public et en présenter ici un choix représentatif.
