"In her book, instead of observing things or the world, Stephanie Kiwitt observes people observing; perhaps as she herself has done so in the past. Although it is sometimes possible to have a slight notion of what kind the object of view or examination could be, it's never known what is the real thing of interest and how they look at it. Comparable with the Romantic painters, showing people looking at something with an observing distance, Stephanie Kiwitt shows and hides in her sequences the relations between the observer, the situation and the object of observation. What can we see, why are we looking at it and what kind of conception do we issue from it?"-- provided by distributor.
