Notes:
"This thesis proposes a system of urban installations located throughout the city of Montreal that would be used to explore contemporary notions of urban identity. These installations act as a platform from which to test theoretical constructs within the built environment. The first installation, re[Tour], is examined as it relates to site and to the overall system. Montreal was chosen as the site for its rich history of re-adaptive use, its complex sectional qualities, and its inherent relationship with the natural topography---Montreal is literally a city defined by its relationship to the landscape around it. The design proposal for [re]Tour takes advantage of an area of Montreal that frames particular vantages of both the urban and natural environment while opening up alternative models of visual identification and understanding"--P iv.
