Doyen of French architects, Paul Chemetov has long practised in Paris with his Chilean partner Borja Huidobro, and they have won many awards and competitions. The most recent was the Grande Axe competition for the regeneration of the area west of the Grande Arche de la Defense in Paris. This project is not included in this recording, but Chemetov does describe other winning designs - the vast Ministry of Finance beside the Seine and the French Embassy in New Delhi where great attention was paid to regional characteristics (here the local architect in charge was Raj Rewal Associates). As can be seen, all their projects are on a large scale, massively built in concrete and steel. Recorded in the Chemetov Huidobro office in Paris. Paul Chemetov bravely undertook to speak in English, but found it so frustrating that he added a few words in French.
