The artists included in Material Deviance use the quotidian, unassuming stuff of life and its circulation as a means of engaging larger social and infrastructural processes. They look to irregularities, gaps, residues, and altered states, whether found or enacted, as material traces of latent histories and underlying systems of power to expose the invisible forces of regulation, value, and control.
