Foyers & in-between spaces / Sheila O'Donnell.
[London, England] : Pidgeon Digital, [2022]
1 online resource (streaming audio file) (28 minutes)
This talk presents O'Donnell's thinking about foyers and in-between spaces, across many projects over thirty years, and the approach taken to the competition-winning design by O'Donnell + Tuomey of a new dance theatre and academy for London's Sadler's Wells. Sheila O'Donnell established O'Donnell + Tuomey with John Tuomey in 1988, a practice committed to the craft and culture of architecture, now with studios in Dublin, Cork and London. They intend their buildings to "feel 'strangely familiar', original in their concept, contemporary in their expression, but belonging to the deeper background of their place".
