Title from advertisement dated 1804, with list of engravings and subscribers, mounted on front paste-down endpaper.
The plates, dated 1796-1818, are hand-coloured and mounted.
Engraved dedication to Sir Joseph Banks, President of the Royal Society, mounted at beginning of volume.
The CCA copy includes none of the stained glass plates mentioned in the list of engravings, but includes instead some of the plates from later series and includes 3 pages titled "An engraving of Archbishop Bowet's shrine, which separates the Chapels of Our Lady, and of All Saints, in the Metropolitan and Cathedral Church of St. Peter, at York", by William Fowler.
