Yasmin Shariff was born in 1950s Uganda to Indian parents. A tireless campaigner for women in architecture, she's also had a life long interest in environmentally sensitive design, and Indian and Islamic architecture. In this talk, Yasmin discusses growing up in Nairobi around important modernist figures such as Erica Mann, meeting her late husband architectural historian Dennis Sharp, and establishing the AA XX 100 initiative for women architects. She also describes notable projects, including her Strawdance Dance Studio (1999) and the restoration of the Georgian manor house Bayford Grange in Hertfordshire (2005 - 2009)
