"Today I am speaking with writer and image maker Yutong Lin whose research within the Emerging Curator Residency Programme at the CCA in Montreal has resulted in - among other things - a publication titled Zomia Garden. The book traces the legacies of botanical exploration in the Himalayan-Hengduan Mountain chain, in a region referred to as Zomia-the world's largest area historically inhabited by peoples not governed by a nation-state. In her research, Lin insists on a Zomian perspective: foregrounding oral traditions, ritual practices, and Indigenous worldviews that resisted imperial assimilation and continue to animate the landscape today."-- provided by distributor.
