The present atlas illustrated with period photographs documents the accelerated transformation of the city of Bogot during the first half of the 20th century. The present edition is the continuation of the research work started in 2001 aimed at locating the historic plans and the diverse aspects in the development and urban history of the capital city from its foundation in 1538. This second volume covers a key time period in the life of the city that started with centenary of the Independence, a celebratory event that caused a series of urban works that "modernized" the colonial style of the city and the "Bogotazo" in abril of 1948, a social movement after the violent death of leader Jorge Eliecer Gaitan, that initiated a prolongued era of destruction of the colonial architectural patrimony, a devastation process that lasted until the decade of 1970 when a conservation criteria were established.
