Frei Galvão : arquiteto / Benedito Lima de Toledo.
Cotia, SP : Ateliê Editorial, 2007.
70 pages : illustrations (some color) ; 25 cm
The book studies in detail the architecture and history of the main work of Franciscan friar Galvao, an important 18th century architect that historian Lima de Toledo describes as "having a very good perception of landscape. He worried, for example for ventilation and solar illumination". The book examines the Mosteiro da Luz (along the church de Or Lady of Light), a complex construction that has survived time and its location in the transforming urbanism of Sao Paulo. Architect Galvao, the first saint born in Brazil, received the recognition for his merits and was awarded the title Honorary Member of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (SP).
