Notes:
First ed. of the work from which the architect Andrea di Pietro di Padova derived the name of Palladio. An epic poem concerning the liberation of Italy from the Goths in 541 by the Roman general Belisarius, whose guardian angel is given the name "Palladio."
Title within architectural border with notation To Zetoymenon above title and Alotòn below. The inscription, taken from Sophocles, means "that which is sought is found". According to Howard Burns, Palladio designed the woodcut tabernacle used in the title and for Trissino's emblem; drawings for it are housed at the R.I.B.A. (Cf. H. Burns, Andrea Palladio 1508-1580, 1975).
