James Heydon of Queens County, Ireland married Bridget Haughay about 1810. James became the first of the Heydon family in Ontario when he and Bridget emigrated from Ireland to York (present-day Toronto) in 1828. Several generations of Heydons were successful in the hotel business in York (Toronto), Vaughan, Etobicoke, and Toronto Gore townships.
