Summary:

A survey of the recent work of Barbara Kasten, including pictures from three bodies of work: architectural sites, juxtapositions, and her latest New Mexico series. Using differently shaped mirrors and lights of vibrant colors, Kasten produces stunning, intensively colored geometrical abstractions. Some become puzzles as the viewer tries to make sense of what's what. Kasten produces juxtapositions, again through the use of mirrors, as they sharply interrupt the abstract, paint splattered floors of the Jackson Pollock-Lee Krasner House and Study Center, reflecting colorfully illuminated windows and outdoors. Her New Mexico series are less abstract and more haunting in their depiction of cliff dwellings.
