Early issues of this collection, known as the Grand Marot, vary in number and selection of plates and generally are without title or name of publisher. They were sold by Marot or his immediate heirs. Cf. A. Mauban. Plates as listed in the tables provided, were, in some copies, combined into a single, much-folded leaf of plates displaying extended elevations, and some plates listed individually were actually printed on a leaf with another plate, probably accounting for differences between the number of listed plates and the number of leaves of plates in a collection.
