Summary:

"The paper looks at three stages of the design for the church of the Salute defined in the only measure written by Longhena on the plan of the second draft, the 'five-foot scale'; a measure that no longer allowed various interpretations in the conversion from the duodecimal system to the metric system and vice versa. The carrying over of the 'five-foot scale' on the plans allowed precise measurements to be set and the planning procedure with this scale and variations with overlays of the three measures to be followed. In the study of proportions it can be seen that all Longhena's indications are whole numbers; all the fractions are left out in a procedure of either totality or memory. The measurements from the dimensional indications are doubled or divided in a duplication or division by bisection. Doubling of the measurements is one of Longhena's methods that is evident on the plans, elevations and sections"--Abstract
