Summary:

This book arose from the desire to look at the history of photography, by means of comparing photographers and photographs that treat the same subject, drawn from every period and every style as though they were variations on the same theme. The subject matter of the pyramids was chosen because of the coincidence of the invention of photography with an international passion for Egyptian antiquity. Through the selection only of photographers with a strong personal vision, excluding amateur snapshots and images used for advertising, the authors aim to show the infinite diversity of viewpoints and the immense richness of the photographic medium.
