Summary:

Anshen+Allen was founded in San Francisco in 1940 by Robert Anshen and Stephen Allen, The Los Angeles practice was opened in 1986 as a stand-alone, regionally based office of the larger organization. In the sixteen years since its inception, the office has seen the transference of leadership from its original Principals Jack MacAllistair and David Reinhart, to Peter Satzicker with Tom Chessum, Sarah Dennison, Scott Kelsey, Dennis McFadden, Anthony moretti, Stephen Yundt and Paul Zaifen. With the exception of Zaifen, all were members of the original office and all share common values and ambition. In 1996 this new leadership was presented further opportunity in the recognition of its autonomy by becoming a separate business organization. Still linked to Anshen+Allen by alliance agreements, this arrangement supports the office's ambition to be a center for design. The unique circumstances that created Anshen+Allen Los Angeles brought together a cross-generational group of commited architects bound by a shared architectural ambition. The work illustrated in this monograph marks this time. - Back cover.
