Apparently a later edition of a work described by some sources as the French translation of Christian Ludwig Stieglitz's Gemählde von Gärten im neuern Geschmacke. The first French ed. was published in 1802.
Most plates are signed by Siegel as draughtsman (cf. "Avant-propos", p. vi-vii). Engravers include J.A. Darnstedt, Schumann, and Hüllmann.
