Summary:

The Tabakfabrik Linz was built by the architects Peter Behrens and Alexander Popp between 1928 and 1935. It is the first large steel-framed building in Austria and represents one of the most important industrial buildings of Modernism. Utilized until recently in the production of tobacco products, the property was purchased in 2009 by the city of Linz.
Die Tabakfabrik Linz wurde von den Architekten Peter Behrens und Alexander Popp in den Jahren 1928 bis 1935 errichtet. Sie ist der erste grosse Stahlskelettbau in Österreich und gilt als einer der konsequentesten Industriebauten der internationalen Moderne. Bis zuletzt als Produktionsstätte für Rauchwaren genutzt, wurde das Areal 2009 von der Stadt Linz gekauft.
