A arquitetura popular do Brasil / Demis Ian Sbroglia Barreto [and others].
Rio de Janeiro : Bom Texto, ©2010.
143 pages : color illustrations ; 24 x 30 cm
The informal architecture of Brazil documented during more than 6 months that the author visited in his bicycle the Brazilian littoral, covering from Chuí (RS) to Oiapoque (AP), and documenting with his photographs the diverse examples of popular architecture revealing unimaginable materials and formats used by the local people in the construction of their houses. The author explores each region and how the available residual materials or recycled products such as glass bottles, tin cans, plastic soda bottles, broken ceramic pieces, and industrialized materials are used to create "spontaneous" architecture that adapts to the need of their own environment but break with formal architectural preconceptions of symmetry and order.
