"Instructiones fabricae et supellectilis ecclesiasticae es una fuente de primera mano sobre las teorías que ejercieron su influencia en los arquitectos del periodo barroco de nuestro país. Quienes se acerquen a las páginas de este tratado encontrarán, en la lengua latina y en traducción al español, los preceptos tridentinos aplicados al campo de la arquitectura sacra. La intención del autor nunca fue que sus decretos tuvieran aplicación extraprovincial; sin embargo, a tan sólo cuatro años de su muerte, comenzaron a aparecer las traducciones a lenguas vernáculas para garantizar la comprensión del tratado en un ámbito cada vez más amplio. De hecho, varios de los preceptos de las Instrucciones han llegado a formar parte del Código de Derecho Canónico. El especialista constatará que las evidencias de la influencia de este tratado en la arquitectura religiosa novohispana van más allá de casos aislados y que esta guía se debió de haber manejado en conjunción con muchos otros escritos antiguos sobre arquitectura."--P. 4 of cover.
