Woodcuts: rectangular title vignette at head of title, featuring the papal arms of Sixtus V, four obelisks, an aqueduct, and a church of Rome; to the right sits the symbol of the city of Rome: figure of a female warrior in armor [Minerva?], holding aloft a statuette of Nike, goddess of victory; vignette on second title-page (for L'antichità di Roma), features Francini's fountain device, flanked by arms of Sixtus V and figure of Minerva; text illustrated with 93 woodcuts of churches and obelisks of Rome by Girolamo Francini; ornamental initials; tail-pieces, catchwords.
