Summary:

"As it is no longer possible to consider the environment merely in terms of its potential for exploitation, it becomes increasingly difficult to determine the status of human beings with respect to nature. Today we are under pressure to reconsider our approach to growth, development, and comfort - which raises the spectre of energy consumption and the future of the earth's biodiversity. To address these issues requires a change of perspective - literally, an about-face - which takes the environment, and not human demands on our planetary resources, as the starting point for reflection. This volume presents the work of French landscape designer and gardener Gilles Clement and Swiss architect Philippe Rahm as two tactical approaches to the environment for tomorrow which focus not on technological or aesthetic problems, but rather ethical ones."--Jacket.
