Available for consultation under accepted fair use practices.
Research materials, primarily manuscript notes, slides, photographs and microfilm, on the subject of Francesco di Giorgio and in particular on the Francesco di Giorgio material in the Zichy Codex in the Erwin Szabo Public Library in Budapest. A 2017 addition to the collection is chiefly composed of draft versions of an unpublished essay on Francesco di Giorgio by Carolyn Kolb. Some of the drafts include notations and text added posthumously by Gustina Scaglia, Sally Hickson and Myra Nan Rosenfeld, who tried to finish the essay so that it could be published. The 2017 addition also includes correspondence related to the essay.
Carolyn Kolb was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1940. She earned a first degree from Tulane University in 1962 and subsequently earned an M.A. (1963) and a Ph.D. (1973) from Harvard University. She taught at the University of Maryland (1972-1973) and George Mason University (1975). In 1976-1977, she was Visiting Assistant Professor at Vassar College. From 1977-1994, she held professorships at the University of New Orleans. She retired from active teaching in 1993 and died in New Orleans in 1994. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, she contributed to an unrealized project at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) related to Renaissance architectural books.
