Marius Dufresne was born Sept. 9, 1883 at Pointe du Lac, Québec. He studied at the École polytechnique de Montréal where he obtained his diploma in engineering. He worked for a year at the Locomotive Works at Longue Pointe before becoming associated with the firm Lacroix & Piché. He later became city engineer and suveyor for the city of Maisonneuve.
