Second issue of what has been considered the first edition, issued by Ziletti in 1582. However, Adams (Cambridge cat., vol. 2, S601) records a 1581 Ziletti edition with 26 prelim. leaves. In the 1583 issue the last I in the imprint date, MDLXXXIII, has been added to the date of the original edition; otherwise the issue agrees with the 1582 edition.
The plates were engraved by Giovanni Battista Pittoni and had been previously published by him with title: Praecipua aliquot Romanae antiquitatis ruinarum monimenta ... Venice, 1561.
