Summary:

This huge book about modern European town planning and urban history is written in Catalan and Spanish. It comes under the discipline of urban history and is one of the many extensive urban studies developed in Europe since 1980, mainly in Italy, France and United Kingdom. In our case we describe and analyse all the urban and architectural transformations carried out in Elche between the 18th and 20th centuries. We suggest that these changes and developments led to the modern city of today. We also link these local urban and achitectural episodes with the transformations that took place in Europe and Spanish cities in the same period and today have become a universal model. -- Provided by publisher.
