"Walkscapes" deals with strolling as an architecture of landscape, with walking as an autonomous form of art, a primary act in the symbolic transformation of the territory, an aesthetic instrument of knowledge and a physical transformation of the "negotiated" space, which is converted into an urban intervention. From primitive nomadism to Dada and Surrealism, from the Lettrist to the Situationist International, and from Minimalism to Land Art, this book narrates the perception of landscape through a history of the traversed city.

How can our urban jungles be transformed into skyscraper forests that help our cities provide new forms of sustenance, from urban farms to breathing buildings? The topic is increasingly in the public eye, and the answer is already cropping up on our streets. Garden City captures the growing global movement among contemporary architects for biodesigning buildings that are less structure and façade, more living entities, capable of being ecologically autonomous, horticulturally productive, and both pleasing to the eye and relevant to our day-to-day lifestyles.

Summary:
What do outer space capsules, submarines and office buildings have in common? Each was conceived as a closed system- a self-sustaining physical environment demarcated from its surroundings by a boundary prohibiting the transfer of matter or energy. As partial reconstructions of the world in time and space, closed systems identify and implement the basic materials necessary for the sustenance of life. From the space program to countercultural architectural groups experimenting with autonomous living, ''The Architecture of Closed Worlds'' documents a disciplinary transformation and the rise of a new environmental consciousness.

Summary:
The eponymous catalogue for an exhibition by Swiss architects Gramazio & Kohler in collaboration with systems engineer Raffaello D'Andrea, shown at the Frac Centre in Orléans. The book presents a fascinating exploration of their perspectives and multidisciplinary interests, ranging from computational design and robots to material innovation, plus research on architecture, system design and autonomous robotic technologies. Through detailed diagrams and texts, it gives insight into the exhibitions realisation in which an architectural installation was constructed by flying robots and reveals radical new ways of both thinking about and materialising architecture.

Richard Serra (born 1939) began creating drawings in 1971, and they continue to constitute an autonomous part of his practice. Often large in scale, these drawings are typically made with a thick impasto of black paintstick (or, more recently, lithographic crayons melted into a brick), which is applied to a surface in broad, dense passages. Begun in 2013, Serra's(...)

Often large in scale, these drawings are typically made with a thick impasto of black paintstick (or, more recently, lithographic crayons melted into a brick), which is applied to a surface in broad, dense passages. Begun in 2013, Serra's "Reversal "drawings employ two identical rectangular sheets of paper that are adjoined in a vertical or horizontal format, with the black and white areas reversing themselves proportionally top to bottom (or left to right).

Summary:
Based in Osaka, dot architects is an interdisciplinary practice with a portfolio that spans architecture, research, art, and more. This volume features five of the studio’s completed projects. Images which portray the projects in their current state are complemented by texts outlining the history and background of each structure and the surrounding town. As a whole, it gives a detailed insight into the properties which acutely reflect the “politics of living” – critical faculties needed to create small autonomous spaces through design, construction, and involvement, which in turn shapes the principle the architects describe in this book and adhere to in their daily practice.
