Project
CI005.S1.1917.PR3
Description:
The Seafront Terrace Housing, or "Strandboulevard" was originally designed by Oud for the property developer, Maatschappij Oostduinen Scheveningen. Oud was originally commissioned to build only for one strip of development. He designed nine three-storey luxury units that could be repeated any number of times. Oud's contemporaries viewed the design as embodying the Dutch artistic movement, De Stijl. The sea-front elevation for the design is cubic. While Oud eventually opted for an unornamented design, his original drawings featured masonry ornaments and panelling (Taverne et al. 2001, 145-148). Project series includes drawings of plans, photographs of drawings, and a photograph of a model.

Architecture In Love (1997)
AP207.S1.1997.PR01
Description:
The project series documents "Architecture in Love" a series of decorative rings designed by Pettena in 1997. "Rather than any decorative intent, this series of rings favors an essentially architectural approach. The object, formed of two halves that are assembled into the completeness of a whole, is in reality a disassembled and reassembled building, investigated in all its possible spatial values." [1] The project series contains sketches and design drawings showing the rings at different angles, photographs and project descriptions in Italian and in English. Source: [1] Gianni Pettena website, https://www.giannipettena.it/italiano/opere-1/design-architectures-in-love-1997-1/ (last accessed 22 January 2020).

Starting From... The Bubble
The bubble is a wonder of surface tension. In its architectural interpretation, the bubble can be understood as a feat of engineering or as a metaphor for an enclosed hermetic environment. As such, the bubble emerges, in the architect Cedric Price’s words, “in any shape or any size” as a powerful symbol of the future, or becomes synonymous with the condition of isolation(...)

AP207.S1.1969.PR01
Description:
This project series documents the "Babele" Tavolo, a table design by Pettena in 1967 and produced in 1968 by Gufram, an Italian seat and furniture manufacturer based in Barolo. "A sculpture that has become a stand for objects: it consists of a tree (with a marble base and metal trunk) whose leaf-shelves in lacquered wood can be placed in any position." [1] The table was designed in the context of designing furnishings for Pettena's studio-home in Florence. The project series contains a sketch showing different configurations of the table and its components, drawings, photographs and project descriptions in Italian and in English.
