Anyone Corporation fonds
AP116
Synopsis:
The Anyone Corporation fonds is composed primarily of textual and photographic records which document the activities of the Anyone Corporation over the course of its planned ten year life span from 1990 to 2001. The non-profit, New York City based organization, was founded by Peter Eisenman, Cynthia Davidson, Arata Isozaki, and Ignasi de Solà-Morales Rubio in order to stimulate a fruitful dialogue between architecture and general culture at the dawn of the new millennium. To this end, ANY (acronym for Architecture New York) organised ten international conferences and numerous public seminars, as well as publishing conference journals, a series of architecture related books, and ANY, a theory driven bi-monthly magazine.

Description:
- This group of correspondence was compiled by George Jacobsen who commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design a house for his property in Hudson, Québec. The group includes letters, telegrams and numbers 13, 14, and an unnumbered edition of "A Taliesin Square-Paper", published by Taliesin Press. The correspondence discusses both the designs for the house and the trip Jacobsen made to Taliesin West, Arizona. Although the house was never constructed, Wright sent two different designs. The first was based on his design for the 1942 Vigo Sundt House, and the second, a hexagonal module, was similar to the 1941 Roy Peterson House (Shubert and Whatley).

Description:
- This album consists mainly of elevations, sections and plans for a number of domestic commissions by Charles Rohault de Fleury: a house in Cologne, a hothouse for M. Faquet-Lemaitre, two [?] apartment houses and three private houses in Paris, a house for Mme de Lescure, Royan, and the Administration générale des omnibus office building, Paris. Both the drawings for the house in Cologne and the three variant projects for a hothouse are probably presentation drawings. There are contract drawings, probably the architect's copies, for apartment houses for M. Piet and M. Le Comte, and houses for M. Moreau Chaslon, Mme la comtesse de Lubersac, Mme de Lescure and M. Waresquiel. A sheet of cost calculations attached to a preliminary site plan, are probably for M. Waresquiel's house. The first plan for Mme la comtesse de Lubersac's house (DR1974:0002:002:084), and the plans for M. Waresquiel's house are annotated with the functions of the rooms. The architect's copies of the drawings for the country house in Royan, given to the client by the architect, include drawings of the foundations and framework, larger scale elevational and sectional details of the architectural elements, profiles and joinery details. The function within the design process of the prints for the commercial building for the Administration Générale de Omnibus is unclear. The principal elevation (DR1974:0002:002:020) is rendered in watercolour, suggesting it may be a presentation print. The other prints for this building exhibit the same degree of finish as the contract drawings in this album, but the absence of the client's and contractor's signatures and the revision attached to DR1974:0002:002:022 suggests they may be part of the design development stage of the project. Also included in the album is a sheet of preliminary sketches for a tomb for Daguerre (not the photographer) and two small unbound sheets of sketches for unidentified projects (DR1974:0002:002:048 and DR1974:0002:002:028).

Description:
- This portfolio contains record drawings - mostly line drawings and sketches, some coloured with wash - of four European zoological gardens: Antwerp, Brussels, Amsterdam and Marseille. The drawings include plans, sections, elevations of the animal cages, aviaries and buildings, as well as pictorial drawings of the facilities and general plans of the zoological gardens at Antwerp and Amsterdam. The zoological garden at Antwerp is depicted in the most detail, notably including drawings of the Palais égyptien designed by Charles Servais. Also included are two sheets of notes illustrated with sketches, concerning the zoological garden at Marseille.

Description:
- This album contains drawings, prints and manuscripts chiefly related to two projects: the restoration of the Thermes de Julien and the development of the place de la Concorde, then known as place Louis XV. The ruins of the baths are documented in five drawings by Hubert Rohault de Fleury. The portfolio of manuscripts includes letters from the "Préfecture du Départment de la Seine" appointing Hubert Rohault de Fleury and Etienne Goddes to direct the restoration of the baths, a report by Rohault de Fleury and Goddes, and subsequent letters. The report includes a description of the baths, historical research, suggestions for earth removal and the purchase of adjacent buildings to be demolished. Both proposals made by Hubert Rohault de Fleury to the "Ministre de l'interior" for place Louis XV include central fountains and streets bisecting the square into four quadrants, each with fenced lawns and central fountains. One proposal shows the outer corner of each quadrant bordered by colonnades and loggias overlooking the "jardins des Tuileries", while the other proposal shows promenades bordered by a row of sculptures (DR1974:0002:037:004 - DR1974:0002:037:013). Also by Hubert Rohault de Fleury are several sketches for urban squares and five sketches for fountains, probably for place Louis XV (DR1974:0002:037:003, DR1974:0002:037:014 R/V - DR1974:0002:037:018 R/V). Projects by other architects for place Louis XV in the album include: a print by an unknown engraver of a project by Poyet for place Louis XV, including an opera house; engravings by Ollivier and Hibon of plans and fountains for place Louis XVI by Destouches and by Lusson; a lithograph by Roux of an obelisk with a fountain, probably a proposal for the base of the obelisk from Luxor. - Material unrelated to the Thermes de Julien and place Louis XV in this album includes one sheet of sketches of plans and elevations of unidentified buildings (DR1974:0002:037:001:045 R/V) and a plan showing the location of trees on the edge of place du Cirque Olympique, Paris (DR1974:0002:037:025). In addition to place Louis XVI, the engravings by Hibon and Ollivier depict a fountain for the ville de Toulouse designed by either Etienne Jacques or Etienne Jules Tierry and details of the acanthus foliage finial of the "Lanterne de Démosthénes", often known as the Choragic monument of Lysicrates, Greece (DR1974:0002:037:020 and DR1974:0002:037:021).
