A stone falls to the Earth. It picks up speed, rolling down the steep side of a mountain until it comes to rest in an empty plain. But the plain won’t remain empty for long: out of the shadows emerge two figures, who immediately start to grapple, using that very stone as a weapon to kill. But those same hands, our human hands, holding the same weight of stone, also shape and forge, chisel and build, creating as they destroy, rendering beauty and violence alike. Dino Gavina est une des grands designers italiens du XXe siècle. Dans les années 70, il a travaillé avec des artistes tels que Man Ray, Brancusi et Meret Oppenheim. Les ‘Ultramobili’ sont des meubles qui vont à l’encontre du concept de fonctionnalité et donnent une dimension poétique et surréaliste aux intérieurs. Parmi les plus célèbres dans cet ouvrage : Magritta, de Sebastian Matta, siège en forme de chapeau melon avec une pomme en hommage à Magritte ; Traccia, de Meret Oppenheim, guéridon avec un double piètement en pattes d’oiseau ; Les grands trans-Parents, de Man Ray, miroir poli et sérigraphié. Certains ‘Ultramobili’ sont encore produits de nos jours.
