Fondé en 1992, le Festival International des jardins a su s'imposer comme un rendez-vous incontournable de la créations paysagère et jardiniste. Prisé des professionnels du monde entier, le concours international préalable à chaque édition reçoit des centaines de propositions. Vingt-et-un projets d'exception ont été retenus par le jury présidé en 2012 par le célèbre chef cuisinier Alain Passard auxquels s'ajoutent les invités du Domaine. Eduardo Souto de Moura (b.1952) is one of Portugal's leading architects, but gained wider international recognition when he won the Pritzker Prize in 2011. He collaborated with Álvaro Siza before establishing his own architectural studio in 1980. Since then, he has completed more than 100 projects ranging from private houses to larger projects such as the stadium in Braga (2004), the venue for the 2004 European Championships.
