Cet ouvrage présente les projets d’espace public dans la collection du FRAC Centre, conçus par des artistes, en collaboration ou non avec des architectes. Orientée autour de l'architecture, la collection du FRAC Centre réunit des projets d'espace public, conçus par des artistes, mais aussi par des artistes et des architectes qui s'efforcèrent de développer une collaboration dès les premières phases du projet. À contrario de l'œuvre greffée in extremis dans un espace public qui lui demeure exogène, certaines oeuvres, réfutant la permanence et la fixité imposée à l'œuvre d'art publique évoluent vers la notion de performance ou d'actuation perceptive par les visiteurs.
