Finally available for trade: the beautiful catalogue of the stunning Japanese pavilion at the 2008 Venice Architecture Biennial: "Our projects, dissected into 500 small illustrations and 150 small blocks of text. We are taking these pieces to examine, with great attention, how they could relate on paper as if they were equivalent. By doing so the defining lines of the respective projects are rendered ambiguous, and a vague, abstract image of the whole emerges."

Photographs by Christian RichtersThe architects in the Viennese Coop Himmelb(l)au team have felt committed to the credo of constructing cities and buildings that float like clouds ever since the practice was founded in 1968. The recently opened BMW World is such a floating building. Excellent photographs provide a record of this demonstration project by BMW. The urban-sculptural and internal spatial qualities of the building are analysed thoroughly, and dealt with in detail in the context of Coop Himmelb(l)au's older and more recent works.

Résumé:
The celebrated British architect Sir John Soane (1753–1837) created his extraordinary house-museum from three properties in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London. There, in houses that embody both his architectural vision and his passion for collecting, Soane exhibited a marvellous array of artefacts, including an outstanding collection of plaster casts, and idiosyncratic items ranging from mummified cats to the sarcophagus of the Egyptian king Seti I. Soane intended the collection to be an ‘Academy of Architecture’ that would inspire students for generations to come, and today it continues to attract more than 90,000 visitors every year.Written by the present director of the museum and featuring specially commissioned photographs by Derry Moore, this absorbing account of a unique, perpetually surprising cabinet of curiosities offers a fascinating insight into the genius of an exceptional man.
