Résumé:
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969) is one of the most important architects of the 20th century. Until 1938 he worked in Europe, ten years of which he cooperated with a small group surrounding the Krefeld collector and silk manufacturer Hermann Lange. During this extraordinary long term collaboration between Mies van der Rohe and his partner Lilly Reich with the Krefeld friends numerous important buildings were designed that are extensively presented in this book. Mies van der Rohe's planned but not realized projects are introduced with large-size computerized visualisations that have never been published before. This publication illuminates the close relationship of the architect and the Velvet and Silk City and gives fascinating insight into Mies van der Rohe's work.

Résumé:
Dallegret’s own life and work denies anything so predictable as a neat synopsis, but in essence his work, beginning in Paris in the late 1950s and early 60s, and later taking in New York and Montréal, absorbs everything from intricate line drawings for a series of astrological vehicles and designs for a number of machines (from those that assist in cooking a meal to others that generate literature) to the ‘A Home Is Not a House’ collaboration with the critic Reyner Banham; a drugstore/gallery in Montréal; proposals for a new Montréal Palais Metro; designs for chairs, more cars and yet more machines; a film collaborative set up to shoot a western; contributions to the Montréal 67 Expo; engraved bars of soap; subversive credit cards; ‘ironique’ villas and light installations. The book will illustrate a great many of these works and contains essays on Dallegret’s life and legacy by the historians Alessandra Ponte and Laurent Stalder. GOD & CO is published to accompany an exhibition at the Architectural Association, London.

Catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Work-Place’ produced for the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2010. Studio Mumbai is composed of a few architects and nearly a hundred craftsmen– carpenters, masons, plumbers, electricians, and stonecutters– all working full time. Their work is based on a constant dialogue: “In India, a country with a population of 1,2 billion, the majority of construction is carried out without architects, which does not prevent them from being human in the largest sense. This reflection also forms part of one of our work’s most critical aspect…” reveals Bijoy Jain, the founder of Studio Mumbai. The Studio is a human infrastructure of skilled craftsmen and architects who design and build the work directly.

Résumé:
Norman Foster is a phenomenon - as an architect, but also as an individual. He is responsible for a dozen or more of the most recognizable buildings of the last 30 years. Amongst many other buildings, Norman Foster is responsible for the design of Beijing's new airport, one of the world's largest, for the Rossiya tower in Moscow, in contention to be the tallest skyscraper in Europe until the credit crunch killed it, for one of the towers at Ground Zero in Manhattan, and for a crop of new towers in London. He designed the Reichstag, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banks headquarters in London and China, the new Wembley stadium and the British Museum's new court. Deyan Sudjic's insightful and elegantly written biography charts the remarkable life of one of the world's most influential architectural figures.

This extensive, large-format, all-color book features projects that brilliantly balance the disciplines of exhibition design, interior design and architecture with playful, provocative and memorable solutions. The 25 projects documented here range from Arteplage Yverdon and the permanent exhibitions for the Swiss National Museum to new construction and conversions of industrial properties for other uses. Principals Barbara Holzer and Tristan Kobler participate in a wide-ranging interview moderated by Martin Heller and Christoph Burkle; the book also includes essays by Angelika Fitz and Stefan Truby, and renderings, schematics, floor plans, models, site maps and a fantastic color poster folded around the outside cover.
