Résumé:
First published in 1976, issued in a new edition in 2008, and now back in print, “And It Came to Pass—Not to Stay” brings together a selection of Buckminster Fuller's (1895–1983) lyrical and philosophical best, including seven "essays" that address global crises and his predictions for the future—"to make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offence or the disadvantage of anyone." These essays, comprising "How Little I Know," "Complexion 1976," "What I Am Trying to Do," "A Definition of Evolution," "'And It Came to Pass' (Not to Stay)," "Soft Revolution" and "Ethics," pursue the task of ushering in a new era for humanity by "always starting with the universe." Each of the texts is written in Fuller's "ventilated prose," an essayistic poem form that breaks up his thinking into lines and stanzas.

Fuller's grandson, in the introduction, refers to this selection as "hardcore Bucky," as these essays display Fuller's investigations into mathematics, geometry and how they intersect with the arts, music and world peace. In Fuller's words, "This is what man tends to call utopia. It's a fairly small word, but inadequate to describe the extraordinary new freedom

A pioneer of "Water Urbanism" and the "Sponge City" model, Kongjian Yu is not only one of the most important living landscape architects, but also a keen observer of the present. His project proposals and his reflections on urban planning in China are a practical-conceptual reference with which to attempt to unravel the emerging questions of a planet threatened by environmental catastrophes, hydrogeological risks and a water crisis. Taking the foundational geometries of rural landscapes as a model, Kongjian Yu proposes very low technology water infrastructure works which, by activating an adaptive behavior, recompose intermediate landscapes between city and nature, concrete representations of the partnership between man and the element that, more than any other, generates and protects life and water.

Résumé:
Moore, Lyndon, Turnbull & Whitaker was established in Berkeley, California, in 1962. Soon after, the architects began working on The Sea Ranch, a large development on the northern California coast that runs from the ocean’s edge, with its protected beaches and cliffs, to a coastal meadow stretching the entire length of the acreage. The firm was charged with developing a master plan for The Sea Ranch that would be aesthetically refined and have minimal impact on the surrounding natural landscape. Local materials such as redwood timber were used in the construction of the residential units and recreational buildings, which together express the era’s particularly Californian modernism.

"Archives" is a magazine developed for a paper format; it seeks to fill a gap in the sphere of architecture and other areas to which our particular view of the world relates. It was conceived as an abject that one would want to read employing both eyes and hands, and with the idea of becoming an archive that orders and clarifies the diverse ways of working and the projects of a series of architects. "Archives" presents monographic issues dedicated to architects with built work that can be visited and photographed, so as to offer a real look at their architecture. A continuous look through the eyes of the same photographer, Juan Rodriguez, with the idea of establishing a relationship between all that may be shown in the different issues of the magazine. This second issue shows the work of Bearth & Deplazes.
