Résumé:
In 1989, the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) developed a daring architectural typology—a ''project without form''. The setting is a laboratory headed by Rem Koolhaas, in which actors from different disciplines work on three competition challenges at the same time. In the process, the mechanisms of project development and knowledge acquisition merge into increasingly abstract systems and representations. The ''project without form'' is not built in any of the three cases. The book not only follows the progress of the laboratory in 1989 but also reflects on its prehistory and aftermath, drawing on interviews with various actors at OMA conducted by Holger Schurk. The publication focuses on the hybrid processes of production and representation in the OMA project Très Grande Bibliothèque (TGB) in Paris: these are visualized by means of numerous hitherto unpublished sketches, drawings, and photographs as well as sequences of video stills.

Résumé:
This book takes readers behind the veil of an essential yet mysterious profession to explain through Moshe Safdie’s own experiences how an architect thinks and works—"from the spark of imagination through the design process, the model-making, the politics, the engineering, the materials." Relating memorable stories about what has inspired him—from childhoods in Israel and Montreal to the projects and personalities worldwide that have captured his imagination—Safdie reveals the complex interplay that underpins every project and his vision for the role architecture can and should play in society at large. Illustrated throughout with drawings, sketches, photographs, and documents from his firm’s voluminous archives that illuminate his stories, the book ends with a chapter outlining seven projects Safdie would pursue around the world if resources and will were no issue and the choices were his to make.

Résumé:
Like a ship cast on the shore by some Mediterranean tempest, the E 1027 house, built in 1929 by legendary Irish designer Eileen Gray with and for her architect friend Jean Badovici, was little more, seventy years later, than a desolate wreck. But since 2014 an exceptional combination of the knowledge and skills of a whole host of architects and historians, coupled with a harmonious collaboration between public authorities and private initiative, have succeeded in setting the building afloat again. E 1027 can now be seen with all the beauty of its original lines, a white vessel emerging from a lemon grove with its blue awning as a sail. Up till now only familiar through the black and white pictures of the albums of its time, its interiors bring together ingenious pieces of furniture and a collection of chairs, lamps and mirrors which have acquired iconic status, and which have been meticulously restored. The heart of this book is a guided tour through this resuscitated architectural masterpiece, with details of its remarkable furnishings and decoration, all illustrated with the photographs of Manuel Bougot.

''Reverse perspective'' revolves around practice-based architectural, art historical, and philosophical research on presence via images, buildings, and texts. In the book, Belgian architect Wim Goes explores three of his main projects: Yohji Yamamoto Boutique Antwerp, Royal Belgian Sailing Club, and Refuge II. Crucial to the book’s introspection is the conversation between Volkmar Mühleis, professor of philosophy and aesthetics at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels and Ghent, and Bulgarian art historian Clemena Antonova, who discuss the concept of reverse perspective in relation to Orthodox icons, cubism, the cinema of Andrei Tarkovsky, and paintings by David Hockney.

Focusing on reconciliation with nature, a respectful approach was taken when creating the exhibition “Jinyun Quarries— The Wuarry as Stage“.The large, extensive installation presents the unusual spatial feeling in the stone quarries of Jinyun scenographically and enables visitors to experience it. Spectacular, translucent models give an impression of the complex spatial structure of the spaces carved into the rock, accompanied by large-format photos, plans, and descriptions. The exhibition also explores the historical situation when the stone quarries were still in operation on the one hand, and how the population, the craftsmen, and the administration have accepted and assess the newly created infrastructures today on the other. This publication accompanies the exhibition.

Résumé:
Between 1950 and 1980 Danish architects Knud Friis and Elmar Moltke realized hundreds of projects. Most of their work can be found in Jutland, and within this region the majority is built in and near Aarhus. Roughly ten percent of the firm’s built work is presented here, in a cross section of their schools, town halls, sports complexes, housing, private houses and summerhouses, hotels, offices, factories, churches, and conference centres. The book traces the development of Friis and Moltke’s unique and friendly brutalism, which is always comfortable, casual, and, in the words of Knud Friis, a ‘provocation against perfectionism’.
