Les Bâtisseurs du présent traitent des vingt-cinq dernières années, 1975-2000, une période qui nous est si contemporaine qu'elle interdit toute approche proprement historique, par manque de distance suffisante. C'est pourquoi ce livre est une série de regards, appuyés sur des enquêtes: six essais suivis chacun de reportages sur les exemples ayant marqué notre époque.
