Résumé:
Name, Class, Subject by Aisha Khalid is inspired by the exercise or 'copy' books used by government schools in Pakistan to teach writing in Urdu and English. Khalid’s book project recalls her experience as a child growing up in Pakistan under the imposed hierarchy of a society shaped by a bilingual culture. The book is produced from over three hundred original two-sided paintings of ruled pages painted in the traditional Mughal style of miniature painting, making each printed page unique. ‘Errors’ in the printing and discrepancies in the lined sheets highlight distinctions between the Urdu section and the uniform English-ruled pages. The book is also intended to be written in.

Résumé:
This fictional work about the construction and decay of a late modernist building can also be read as an essay on our contemporary unease with modernism in general. Author Brian Dillon, UK editor of Cabinet magazine, based it on research into St. Peter's Seminary, a college complex commissioned by the Catholic Church in the 1950s, completed in 1968, and abandoned by 1980. On the outskirts of Glasgow - itself a city with a vexed relationship to Le Corbusier-esque modernism - the building is rich with histories: of its architects, its residing student priests, the drug addicts it once housed and treated, and the local teenagers for whom it is a kind of Gothic recreation center. This book takes the material remains of modernism and treats them from a literary point of view.

Résumé:
This catalog serves as a comprehensive mid-career retrospective, compiled by the artist himself. With his muscular combination of words, forms and ideas, the works are both narrative and non-narrative. Gillick has created over 2000 multi-dimensional works exploring ideas about capitalism, social organizations, social volatility and the myriad possibilities of instability. The artist's quest has continually been something of a causal chain that investigates concepts such as utopia, parallelism, space and time, using them all as a search for utopia.
