Résumé:
The city is where Italian radical architecture represented and experimented its theories. While the early projects remained theoretical proposals, some contributions by Archizoom, Superstudio, or Strum established an ambiguous relationship with design that became crucial after the international exhibition "Italy: the new domestic landscape", curated by Emilio Ambasz at the Museum of Modern Art New York in 1972. With the exception of Zziggurat, all participants, such as UFO, Gianni Pettena, Ugo La Pietra and 9999, chose the "piazza" - the public space - for their theoretical and practical experimentation as the adequate venue for installations and performances that used the same language as that of artists.

The recent collaboration between Gian Piero Frassinelli – founder of the Florentine collective Superstudio – and 2A+P/A an architectural practice based in Rome – relaunched a long-established, yet generally overlooked, debate on the relationship between architecture and anthropology. Moving away from a historical or scientific perspective to embrace the point of view of the project, the exhibition Savage Architecture genealogically reconstructs the ethos of such collaboration in four episodes. The outcome is a journey through the imaginative potential of the anthropological gaze in constructing both meaning and a method for the architectural project as an alternative to the dominant belief in the economic and technological reasons.

Résumé:
The publication is the first comprehensive study of Baruchello’s relationship with the moving image from the sixties on. Produced on the occasion of the exhibition "Gianfranco Baruchello: Cold Cinema". "Film, video e opere 1960-1999", held at La Triennale di Milano in 2014 and 2015, the book opens with a densely packed montage of Baruchello’s own notes, images, and documents, presented by means of a medium dear to the artist, photocopies. An essay by Alessandro Rabottini takes us through the rooms of the exhibition at La Triennale di Milano, while a conversation between Baruchello and Massimiliano Gioni highlights some key aspects of his ideas about cinema. Carla Subrizi’s text winds its way through his entire production of films and videos, whereas an essay by Philippe-Alain Michaud examines some of the historical roots of Verifica incerta (1964-65).

Résumé:
Rethinking strategies for rural development is a global pressing challenge. To stimulate the international discussion Aedes Architecture Forum Berlin is presenting a remarkable example from rural China. Dynamic urbanization processes shape large parts of the world and China in particular. The young population migrates to the cities, whereas many elderly people and children remain in the rural areas. While in the German hinterland railway lines are shut down and the digital infrastructure is more than inadequate, the rural exodus in China is countered with new high-speed train lines and even the most remote mountain villages are being connected by broadband coverage. But also small-scale architecture creates positive future prospects for cultural, social and economic development.

Practice here is understood both as a critical reflection of a status quo and its history, as well as forms of (active) intervention through designing and planning. The book is a fragmentary snapshot of an on going, constantly developing and altering process to find a place in the production and reflection of our built environment, and implicitly disputes the question: “What is to be done?”
