Louise Bourgeois: The Spider, the Mistress and the Tangerine is a mesmerizing cinematic journey inside the world of the modern art legend and feminist icon. As an artist, Louise Bourgeois always worked on her own vigorously inventive and disquieting terms. In 1982, at the age of 71, she became the first woman honored with a major retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art. She went on to create her most powerful and persuasive work--the massive spider sculptures that have since been exhibited all over the world. Filmed with unparalleled access between 1993 and 2007, this documentary delicately sheds light on the ways in which her childhood traumas and memories became embodied in objects and installations. An intimate and human engagement with an artist’s world, this documentary is a comprehensive and dramatic work of creativity and revelation.

Sketches of Frank Gehry by Sydney Pollock chronicles the friendship between director Sydney Pollock and the famed architect every bit as much as it does Gehry and his work, and it makes for a delightful window into the world of creativity and genius. Gehry has made a big imprint on architecture at the turn of the 21st century; his molten-looking visions have graced buildings small (actor Dennis Hopper's industrial-looking home in Venice, Calif.) to enormous (the sprawling Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain). He's the genius behind Los Angeles's sweeping Walt Disney Concert Hall.

DVD Release Date: June 21, 2009. Kamecke's film could be placed in a time capsule and removed some time in the distant future as an exact record of our feelings at the time." So said Kathleen Carroll of the New York Daily News in 1972. NASA commissioned director Theo Kamecke to make the documentary only six weeks before Apollo 11 s flight to the Moon in July 1969. But instead of a simple documentary film, what transpired was a philosophical and poetic record of Man s first attempt to walk on another world. Opening dramatically with another of mankind s great achievements Stonehenge the film puts the triumph of the Moon shot into its proper historical context. Filmed across the World as the mission unfolded, Moonwalk One uniquely captured the essence of Apollo 11 in a way that subsequent documentaries could only mimic. Combined with Charles Morrow s breathtaking, avant-garde score and Laurence Luckinbill s inspiring narration this is a classic film for all time and makes for fascinating viewing today from the perspective of the early 21st Century. As Joseph Gelmis of the New York daily Newsday declared in 1969; Moonwalk One deserves to be a companion piece to Stanley Kubrik s masterwork 2001: A Space Odyssey .

Résumé:
At a time when few architectural firms would hire women, Frank Lloyd Wright unhesitatingly employed women, giving them both training and the opportunity to practice. Ultimately, over 100 women architects and designers worked with Wright, many of them going on to remarkable careers of their own. In his studio in Oak Park and at both Taliesin Fellowships, Wright trained and practiced with women as draftsmen, designers, and fellow visionaries. This production focuses on six of those women - Marion Mahony, Isabel Roberts, Lois Gottlieb, Jane Duncombe, Eleanore Petterson, and Read Weber.
