Résumé:
Depuis toujours Ronan Bouroullec dessine quotidiennement.

Fin-de-siècle Vienna was a hive of creative activity, and at its centre was one of the most versatile artists of the age, Koloman Moser (1868–1918). As a teacher, artist and craftsman, Moser had an immense influence on the tastes of his time, with talents that ranged from illustration and graphics to stained glass and the design of stage sets and postage stamps. In 1897 Moser co-founded the Vienna Secession, and in 1903, together with his friend and colleague Josef Hoffmann, he founded the Wiener Werkstätte, whose workshops were to set trends that spread far beyond the boundaries of Vienna. He devoted the last years of his life to painting, and in recent times his reputation in this field too has steadily grown. Despite the wealth of information that has survived down the years, Moser’s personality remains largely hidden behind his work. Here, Maria Rennhofer joins the many fragments of Moser’s personal life, his artistic influences and his multifaceted creativity into a coherent portrait of this fascinating man. This is not only the first comprehensive account of Moser’s life and work, but it is also an in-depth look at the flourishing artistic environment which he did so much to create and shape.

Résumé:
'More would be unnecessary, less impossible', is designer Bruno Ninaber van Eyben's principle. His work, for which he was the first to receive the Kho Liang Ie Award in 1979, is characterized by silent dialogues between form, function, technology and material. From a minimalist position Ninaber van Eyben searches for pragmatic solutions to make functional objects, always keeping in touch with the end product's poetic quality. Among other classics he gave the wristwatch (1973), the neck watch (1976) and the TL lamp (1977) to the world. His watches are still commercially successful. In 1980 Ninaber designed the Dutch coin series with the portrait of H.M. Queen Beatrix and eighteen years later his design won the competition for the Dutch side of the Euro coin. His products grace museum collections in the Netherlands and also abroad, notably at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Together with Wolfram Peters and Peter Krouwel he founded the industrial design studio n|p|k in 1985. He was its co-director for twelve years. In 1997 he started a new office, Bruno Ninaber van Eyben design & production. It develops high-quality and sometimes more personal products independently and for a limited number of customers, such as the Prime Minister's national gift, the chairperson's gavel for Parliament and the new chain of office for the mayor of Papendrecht, a small town near Rotterdam. "With compliments" is not a traditional monograph. It is mainly a story in images, showing Ninaber's products and sources of inspiration. Short, strong statements underline the images and provide them with a context.

Résumé:
Not many designers are as well organized as Ed Annink and so apt to leave things to chance at the same time. He arranges combinations of constraints and designs products and exhibitions from there onwards. As a design teacher he handles the same principle. His focus is to let students experience and develop their personal design process. Ed Annink distinguishes himself by the width of his scope. He designs on the run as it were and the objects he creates seem to be of minor importance among the ideas and activities that surround them. Some products take less than a minute to come alive. He can be sketching ideas about material qualities, production, use and image without having a particular functionality in mind and seeks to minimize effort for everyone involved, the producer, the person who makes the product, the one who sells it and the user too. As a teacher he may be maximizing the effort his students must make in order for them to discover what it means to be a designer. This monography, written by Ida van Zijl, Gert Staal, Schwartz and Ed van Hinte (ed.) and including interviews with, among others, commissioners from VITRA and Authentics, describes and analyses Annink's work as an exhibition and product designer, an educator and a project initiator.

Résumé:
Design is changing rapidly. The ideological freedom gained over the past ten or fifteen years, combined with new insights in all design related fields, leads to playful experimentation and unprecedented proposals in design, architecture and art. You could say that design is spreading its wings to explore all opportunities for putting human creativity to good use. In addition the new emphasis on sound, image simulation, electronic services, product context as well as corporate image, opens up an inspiring panorama of gradually decreasing materiality. In many cases objects are no longer the aim of the design process. Rather they become illustrations of intentions, use and everything that may happen around them. This way of thinking is spreading across all disciplines of applied as well as fine arts. Design is evolving into the skill of controlling the immaterial, evoking experiences and establishing identities. This richly illustrated new publication by Renny Ramakers, co-founder of Droog Design, describes and unravels all these new developments in applied expression, using examples from design, art, architecture and of course Droog Design itself.
