Résumé:
A true Renaissance man with a clear, unified aesthetic vision, the Swiss artist, designer, architect and writer Max Bill combined the virtues of homo faber and homo ludens throughout his intensely productive career, launching the Concrete art movement and establishing himself as the single most decisive influence on postwar Swiss graphic design. This gorgeously designed, hefty volume—the most thorough Bill overview ever published in English, and the only monograph in print—presents Bill’s oeuvre both chronologically and thematically, across every facet of his multifaceted oeuvre: painting, graphic art, sculpture, architecture, book and magazine design, industrial and furniture design, graphic design and advertising typography—from large-format posters to small inserts in periodicals—as well as his designs for exhibition spaces. Bill stands out for his enormous influence on Latin American geometric art (through his 1951 retrospective at the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art), as well as for his essays, his work as an educator and his political and social concerns. All these aspects of his life and work are covered in this profusely illustrated catalogue, along with essays by scholars and a selection of previously unpublished essays by Bill himself.

Résumé:
Gianni Pettena was a founding member of the radical Florentine architecture movement in the 1960s and 1970s, albeit always maintaining an independent position. As well as critiquing modernist functionalism, he frequented galleries, artists, and critics of the day, and became noted for his purposeful reluctance to actual design. Pettena’s youthful work in the United States and assiduous frequentation of (an)architects such as Buckminster Fuller and James Wines, who early on paid attention to ecology, the suburbs and "to making insignificant places significant," may be interpreted in this light. More generally, the uniqueness of his long career is informed by his rejection of discipline-based roles and methodologies, creating temporary works while constantly seeking alliances with conceptual art, Austrian radical design, Land Art and experimental music. This book documents (almost) all of his works, backed up by an extensive anthology of his writings.

From transparent glass to milky glass, from delicate simple shapes to Phoenician designs, in over 400 pages and 900 images, ''The M.V.M. Cappellin Glassworks and the Young Carlo Scarpa'' tells an essential chapter in the history of Murano glassmaking. In 1925, Giacomo Cappellin (1887–1968) broke with V.S.M. Cappellin Venini & Co. to become one of the most important glass companies in Italy, in no small part thanks to its collaboration with the young architect Carlo Scarpa (1906–78). The entire output of M.V.M. Cappellin from 1925 to1931, when the glassworks was forced to close, is documented in this gorgeous volume. ''The M.V.M. Cappellin Glassworks and the Young Carlo Scarpa'' offers a wealth of information for scholars, collectors and art lovers, including, in addition to its images, information on the production and exhibition of Cappellin Glassworks in the United States and France.

Starting out as an interior designer amid the country’s early modernist movement, Milá began making the objects he needed but couldn’t yet find on the market. He took raw and renewable materials and crafted prototypes by hand, occasionally evolving designs to perfect his now-iconic lighting and furniture. This book is a detailed look back through Milá’s most emblematic works, produced between 1956 and 2021, with archival photos and drawings, as well as original photos shot at Milá’s Barcelona home by Nacho Alegre.
