Avec les Sumériens et les Assyriens, la Mésopotamie porta au plus haut raffinement l'art de la construction et du décor en brique. Cette technique, transmise par les Abbassides, s'est perpétuée sans interruption jusqu'à l'Irak du XXe siècle. Entre 1920 et 1950, cette tradition s'est croisée avec de multiples apports dans la foulée des Arts déco et autres " néostyles " venus d'Europe. The Arts of China after 1620 concludes a major three-volume survey that examines China's huge wealth of art, architecture and artefacts from prehistoric times to the present.
