At dusk, the colour and quality of light changes rapidly and dramatically and is therefore a significant and poignant time for photographers in particular. In recent years, an increasing number of artists have photographed in the twilight hour to explore its optical effects and psychological implications. This exhibition will focus on contemporary photography and video and is the first to explore the theme of twilight in this way. It will include work by both established and emerging artists from around the world including Philip-Lorca di Corcia, Gregory Crewdson, Bill Henson, Robert Adams, Chrystel Lebas, Liang Yue and Ori Gersht.

De la guerre 1914-1918 témoignent de multiples photographies : la violence des assauts, leurs effrayants résultats s'y inscrivent entre noir et blanc dans toutes ces nuances de gris qu'on accorde si aisément, culturellement, aux visions dramatiques. Mais d'autres images existent, moins connues parce que moins montrées et reproduites, qui rendent à cette guerre ses couleurs. Des couleurs étonnamment préservées, grâce au procédé autochrome mis au point par les frères Lumière, comme on peut en juger par les photographies de cet album consacré à la bataille de la Marne, au front de Champagne et à la ville de Reims. In this textual and visual essay, artist Joan Fontcuberta takes the index finger as his point of departure for an insightful and irreverent consideration of photography’s relation to indexicality. These existential issues are further complicated by the emergence of post-photography and generative AI. Depuis 2023, Théophile Calot invite des artistes comme Julie Carreyn, Bertrand Cavalier, Wade Guyton, Batia Suter, Rebecca Topakian ou Wolfgang Tillmans au sein de la librairie delpire & co dans le cadre d'une programmation d'exposition tournée vers les notions de verticalité et horizontalité de l'image. For over a decade, artist and theorist Kwan Queenie Li has been photographing weeds across the world. From Jerusalem to Shanghai, Varanasi to Athens, Cairo to Mexico City, she has trained her attention on these unintended but ubiquitous inhabitants of the contemporary urban sphere, finding them dwelling in corners and cracks, in spaces suspended between uses, in ruins and on construction sites. This essay in image and text proposes a new view of cities that learns from the weed's point of view, dissolving familiar categories and temporalities to see cities as evolving and often undefined spaces, replete with opportunity. Weeds organically defy phenomena that are taken for granted as immovable: walls, borders, history, and prescribed identities. They are registers of the real lives of cities of disuse and neglect, but also freedom and porousness. Out-of-place by definition, they offer a new perspective on the idea of "place" itself, and the ways it shapes and is shaped by its inhabitants.
