Résumé:
''Towards territorial transition'' presents new spatial strategies, concepts, and approaches for shaping large-scale and transnational developments in architecture and urban design towards decarbonization and ecological transition. The contributions investigate interactions between ecological and resource-related systems and landscapes. They also explore potential solutions to address and deal with the dramatic threats posed by climate change and the emerging social crisis. The book introduces six basic terms of territorial transition—territory, scale, transition, resource, platform, and uncertainty—and visualizes them with spatial strategies elaborated at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture Versailles and at Graz University of Technology. Moreover, it presents a selection of transnational projects of territorial transition, such as Luxembourg in Transition (Luxembourg / France), Grand Genève (Switzerland / France), and Top Noordrand (Belgium).

Résumé:
''Climax change!'' offers an overview of how the current environmental emergency will impact the practice of architecture. At a crossroads in which the construction sector and built environment produce nearly 40% of greenhouse gases accountable for global warming, architects are just starting to acknowledge their complicity in an impending disaster. In need of a paradigm shift similar to that of the Modern Movement, architecture desperately requires clear guidelines and targets so as to operate its inevitable transformation towards an ecologically-friendly design logic. From historical analyses of ecocide or the environmental avant-gardes, to topics such as decarbonization, degrowth, the Great Transition and the aspirations of Green New Deals, this book features ten essays around today's climate change debates, bringing them home to architectural thinking.

Résumé:
The 18th Venice Architecture Biennale, titled "The laboratory of the future," is conceived as a kind of workshop at which architects present examples from their practices reflecting on themes of decolonization and decarbonization. The biennale also shines a spotlight on Africa and the African Diaspora, with 89 participants, over half of whom are of African descent. Volume I of its catalog is dedicated to the International Exhibition, curated by Ghanaian Scottish architect Lesley Lokko. Projects by each participant are accompanied by a critical text and biographical notes and a rich plate section. Volume II presents the National Participations and the Collateral Events, with illustrated texts that delve into the projects presented in the Pavilions and the Collateral Exhibitions on display in the Giardini, the Arsenale and various locations throughout Venice.

Résumé:
When we think of climate, the stories we tell about the future are often catastrophic: megastorms, crop failures, and heat waves loom over us, sending a signal that the problem is so vast, so complex, that it’s out of our control. That narrative is compelling for some, but leaves others feeling hopeless, helpless, and disillusioned. Even the most ardent champions of(...)

Even the most ardent champions of decarbonization sometimes focus more on sounding the alarm than on mapping out what success might look like. Without positive climate futures, visions of climate adaptation and resilience that we can work toward, it’s much harder to motivate broad-based efforts for change in the present. Through short speculative fiction, essays, and visual art, "Climate imagination" seeks to inspire a wave of narratives about what positive climate futures might look like for communities around the world.

Résumé:
Climate change is already influencing how and where people live. In ''North'', Jesse M. Keenan argues that America is entering a new era marked by shifts in population that will transform everything from the physical landscape of cities to electoral politics. First, Keenan examines how human mobility is shaped by the environment and the economy. Next, he provides a conceptual and empirical overview of adaptation science, with a focus on how people, governments, and markets are preparing for and responding to climate impacts. He documents how physical impacts in the built environment, escalating costs, and public sector inertia are converging to drive people out of high-risk areas, while, at the same time, certain other areas are attracting people who seek a more sustainable way of life. ''North'' is not just a collection of scientific observations and projections about the peril of those left behind. It is also a projection of optimism about America's capacity for decarbonization, environmental stewardship, and economic mobility for those on the move.
