The zany, the cute, and the interesting saturate postmodern culture. They dominate the look of its art and commodities as well as our discourse about the ambivalent feelings these objects often inspire. Résumé:
There are all kinds of indications that architecture in the nineties has set off in a new direction after the domination of the two last decades by postmodernism as a style or attitude. This trend, which can be seen in the work of architectural firms like OMA, Jean Nouvel, Dominique Perrault, Herzog & De Meuron and Toyo Ito, can be connected with one of the dominant forces of the present time: the globalization that is taking place in virtually every field. One of the consequences for architecture is the erosion of the postmodern (and deconstructivist) axiom of the uniqueness of the site. The context, let alone contextualism, no longer seems to play an important role in an increasing number of designs and buildings. Semiotic expressiveness - another postmodern theme - is also often lacking in this architecture. The author explores this new trend towards abstract, neutral architecture, which in various respects can be seen as the last word of modern architecture of the postwar International Style. This enlarged edition of "Supermodernism" includes a new final chapter in which Ibelings charts the latest examples of supermodernism, as well as a revised introduction and conclusion in which he responds to the numerous reactions his provocative stance has triggered.

Résumé:
This first anthology to focus on painting's multiple discourses over the last three decades brings together key statements, dialogues, and debates that have moved the conversation beyond the modern/postmodern dialectic while redefining the conditions necessary for an artwork to be described as "painting." The diversity of contemporary painting’s meanings and practices encompasses the randomness and eclecticism associated with Web-based creation. Although for many the presence of paint endures, others have argued for painting to be classed not as a material but as a philosophical category.

Résumé:
Do things have an order? This question is the starting point for Nathalie Du Pasquier’s exploration. All around lies a domestic and postmodern landscape of columns and bases, but also of objects of everyday use such as a packet of pasta or a can of beer. The French artist tries to seal off objects in simple or elaborate boxes, but they live a life of their own and run(...)

Résumé:
Do things have an order? This question is the starting point for Nathalie Du Pasquier’s exploration. All around lies a domestic and postmodern landscape of columns and bases, but also of objects of everyday use such as a packet of pasta or a can of beer. The French artist tries to seal off objects in simple or elaborate boxes, but they live a life of their own and run wild. There might be relationships between the objects, invisible symmetries, although ultimately even this is called into doubt...
