This project series documents the Faculdade de Ciências da Informação in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 41/90. The office assigned the date 1993 to this project. The Faculty is located on the north campus of the University of Santiago de Compostela, on the Burgo das Nacións Avenue. The building is divided in two sections, one with three stories and the other with two stories. The upper floor is for nine amphitheater classrooms and the lower floors are for the media laboratories and studios. The building also includes an atrium, a library, studios, and media laboratories. The project was realized and is now named the Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación. Documenting this project are sketches, studies, working drawings, structural drawings, technical drawings, and mechanical drawings. Textual material includes project documentation and correspondence. Photographic material documents the models, construction work, the built project, and furniture.

The project series documents the competition entry for the design and construction of the Valdemingómez recycling plant for urban waste, as well as offices. The plant is located in the Southeast Regional Park (Parque Regional del Sureste). In 1997, Abalos & Herreros in collaboration with Vertresa won first place in the competition. The firm identified this project as number 99. The plant has “[…] two complementary constructions, one intended for the elaboration of compounds from organic waste, and the second, the control and weighing of the lorries that enter the area. […] The facility has a working life of 25 years. After that time it can be recycled as an amenity for the Regional Park or be dismantled by recycling its components” (ARCH270971). The firm received several awards and recognitions for the Valdemingómez plant. In 2000, they received the award of Urbanismo, Arquitectura y Obra Pública 1999 from the Madrid City Council, made it to the selection process at the premios FAD de Arquitectura e Interiorismo 2000, and obtained a prize from the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid. In 2001, this project was also a finalist for the Premio Mies van der Rohe and received second place for the Premio Manuel de la Dehesa. The plant received an award at the fourteenth Premio Grupo Dragados de Arquitectura de la Fundación CEOE and was also selected at the third Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura e Ingenieria Civil in 2002. Documenting the project are competition and working drawings, logbooks, notes, correspondence, studies, reports, proposals, receipts, press releases, clippings promotional, reference, digital, photographic and graphic materials, and a model.

The project was also named “PIRS building” and includes an environmental education center and offices. Abalos & Herreros was invited to enter the competition and won first prize for their entry. The firm identified this project as number 111. The firm worked with Ángel Jaramillo, Obiol y Moya and Luís Jesús Tomás Martínez. In 2001, the project received a mention at the tenth Premio Regional de Arquitectura Manuel de Oraá y Arcocha 2000-2001. Documenting the project are conceptual, design development and working drawings, correspondence, reports, project descriptions, budgets, specifications, invoices, minutes, postcards and reference and photographic materials.

Abalos & Herreros and Renata Sentkiewicz in collaboration with Joaquín Casariego and Elsa Guerra won first place for their entry. They also worked with Ferrovial Inmobiliaria, Irene Zúñiga, David Sobrino and Obiol y Moya. The firm identified the project as number 142. The building includes offices, residential and retail units, and a public library. The square was designed with collaborating artist Albert Oehlen using Portuguese stone. Both the tower and the plaza were designed with the idea of integrating them in a hybrid-natural and artificial-landscape. In 2005, the firm was a finalist at the Premios FAD de Arquitectura e Interiorismo for this project. Documenting the project are contains design development and working drawings, graphic and photographic materials, correspondence, notes and a model.
